Baseline template — pending legal review

This document is an honest baseline draft prepared to describe how Authevo works. It has not yet been reviewed by qualified legal counsel and is intended to be finalized before public launch. Nothing here should be treated as legal advice, and specific clauses (including governing law) may change.

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form an agreement between you and Authevo ("Authevo", "we", "us", or "our") and govern your access to and use of the Authevo verification API, dashboard, documentation, and related services (together, the "Service"). Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account, generating an API key, or otherwise accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not access or use the Service.

If you are using the Service on behalf of a company or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and "you" refers to that organization.

2. Description of the service

Authevo is a developer-first one-time passcode (OTP) verification API for Egypt and the wider MENA region. We generate and deliver verification codes to your end users over WhatsApp, with automatic fallback to Telegram when WhatsApp delivery is not possible.

The Service does not send codes over SMS or email. You are responsible for integrating the API into your own application and for the user experience around verification.

3. Accounts and API keys

You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date. You authenticate to the Service using secret API keys (for example, keys beginning with sk_live_).

You are responsible for keeping your API keys confidential. Do not embed secret keys in client-side code, public repositories, or anywhere they may be exposed. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your keys, whether or not authorized by you. Notify us promptly at legal@authevo.dev if you believe a key has been compromised.

4. Acceptable use

You may only use the Service to send verification messages to end users who are expecting them as part of your own sign-up, login, or transaction flows. You agree that you will not:

  • send unsolicited, bulk, or marketing messages, or otherwise use the Service for spam;
  • send verification codes to recipients who have not initiated an action that warrants them;
  • use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, harassing, or abusive purpose;
  • violate Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform policies, Telegram's terms and policies, or any other applicable third-party platform rules;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or circumvent the security, rate limits, or safeguards of the Service.

You are responsible for complying with all laws and regulations applicable to your use of the Service, including those relating to messaging, consent, and the protection of personal data.

5. Pricing and payment

The Service is offered on a pay-per-successful-verification basis at $0.01 per successful verification, with no subscription required. New accounts include 500 free verifications to get started.

You add funds by purchasing prepaid credit packs (for example, $5, $20, $50, or $100). Credits are consumed as you use the Service.

To deter abuse and runaway spend, a Safety Floor may apply a per-message charge to abusive or anomalous traffic, including messages sent that do not result in a successful verification. We may update pricing from time to time; changes will apply to usage after the change takes effect.

Except where a refund is required by applicable law, prepaid credits are non-refundable and have no cash value.

6. Service availability

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We operate the Service on a best-effort basis and do not promise any uptime service level agreement (SLA) at this stage.

Message delivery over WhatsApp and Telegram depends on third-party platforms outside our control, and delivery is not guaranteed. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features of the Service at any time.

7. Intellectual property

Authevo and its licensors own all rights, title, and interest in and to the Service, including the API, dashboard, documentation, and all related software, trademarks, and content. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the Service in accordance with these Terms.

You retain ownership of the data and content you submit to the Service. You grant us the rights necessary to process that data solely to operate and provide the Service to you.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any message will be delivered.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Authevo and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months preceding the event giving rise to the liability, or fifty United States dollars ($50).

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in abuse or fraud, failed to pay amounts due, or created risk or legal exposure for us or others.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — will survive.

10. Governing law and changes to these terms

These Terms are intended to be governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The governing law and dispute-resolution venue are placeholders to be confirmed by legal counsel before launch.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
